From sunlit woods to coastal dunes, these paintings explore the moments when light changes how a familiar place feels. They also mark a breakthrough in my own work: I build each scene through loose layers of paint, scraping, and unexpected color, leaving room for discovery rather than describing every detail. 

There's something magical about the moment the sun peeks through the trees. In these paintings, I use bold outlines and jewel-toned color to bring that sunlit, stained-glass feeling to life. 

These paintings celebrate the brighter, breezier side of life on the Eastern Shore, from sailboats on open water to hydrangeas by the beach and gardens in full bloom. Some begin with layers of torn paper beneath the paint, adding depth and texture you can see up close.
