The Artist Behind the Paintings

I create art that is meant to bring joy and emotional connection.  My hope is that each painting feels personal and speaks differently to every person who experiences it.

I live and create on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, where so much of my inspiration comes from the coastal landscapes, forests, marshes, and wildlife around me.  Places like Assateague Island have a way of staying with you, and I think that sense of atmosphere and memory finds its way into much of my work.

My journey as an artist began with a Bob Ross painting class at a local community center.  I jokingly told my family to clear a spot on the wall for the “masterpiece” I was sure to bring home.  That first painting sparked something in me, and I haven’t really stopped since.

I began with oils, painting flowers, landscapes, and beloved family pets before eventually moving to acrylics.  Over time, I found myself wanting to loosen up, let go of perfect realism, and focus more on feeling, texture, and movement.  Working primarily with palette knives and mixed media pushed me toward a more expressive and impressionistic style and helped me begin finding my own artistic voice.

My work continues to evolve, and I paint what moves me and what feels meaningful in the moment.  The greatest compliment is when someone connects emotionally with a painting and feels something personal in it.
